Twittering on

Twitter is another one of those applications, like Facebook, that I am not in the least bit interested in using myself but which I find interesting in terms of others' use. So the release of another Pew Internet report, this time focusing on who engages with Twitter and how they engage with it, makes interesting reading. For those of us also interested in citizen journalism, the fact that Twitter is often the first source for breaking news is no surprise, given the number of people now constantly online wherever they go. So when the amazing story of the plane that landed in the Hudson river broke, one of the first to report the story was a Twitter user. And don't think this relates only to adults - even unborn babies are using Twitter...

That Kickbee has got to be a joke. At what point does something like this stop? I am slightly more obsessed with the likes of facebook and twitter than most... but even I think this is going a bit too far!

Although it is an interesting concept - an unborn child participating a digital world before they have even entered the real world.

Hi Martin, your comment intrigued me - a step too far, or interesting? If you follow the links, the man who invented this concept used it as a means of listening to his own unborn child, which I thought was touching!

Hi Jackie, maybe it is only a matter or time before something like this is mass produced? I think it is touching on the father's part... but it's the sort of thing that could take off commercially. Although I agree it is very interesting that more and more of our real world activities are becoming parts of virtual worlds, possibly opening new opportunities (like the Kickbee) but perhaps taking over a little too?
